Hi! I am Shawn Gale, owner/operator of HVG. I’ve been guiding hikes and tours since the early 90’s. I started with day camps, then schools. My canvas has been Colorado, Germany, Austria, France, Poland, Italy, and New York. My cousin, when visiting Rome even asked me to “tour her around” Rome.
Experience (matters!):
Eight years military experience
Led hiking tours in Colorado for schools and day cares
Led outdoor education programs in Bahrain culminating in a week long outdoor education class in the Bavarian Alps
Led an outdoor education program in Stuttgart Germany that offered a week long Bavarian Alps excursion
Led biking trips, canoe trips and high ropes adventures in Germany
Guiding kayak tours on the Hudson River
Wilderness First Aid, CPR, Water Safety certificates.
Received my New York State DEC guide badge for hiking, camping, small boats and fishing
I was offered a kayak touring guide job one fall after buying a used kayak from a local kayak tour business. The owner said, “You have great people skills and we’d love to have you work with us.” I thankfully accepted.
Since doing kayak tours and hiking on my own with family and friends I got the itch to run my own touring business. Never did I think, “I can do it better or smarter.”
I just thought, “I CAN DO THIS!”
I want to share my passion of the outdoors with you. I consider it MY CHURCH. So let me invest in you as you invest in me.
